Hat Creek
Upper Hat Creek is stocked by Fish & Game weekly. Bait fishermen do well with night crawlers, salmon eggs and powerbait. For bigger fish, try spinners, like Panther Martins. Fly fishing upper Hat Creek is a challenge with fast water and heavy cover, but the rewards can be worth it with fish up to 6 pounds! Brown trout are native in the creek. Rainbow and brook trout can be caught up to 6 pounds and fish 10-14 inches are common.
Lower Hat Creek is a wild trout section with some restrictions. Be sure to check the Fish & Game regulations.
Salmon flies and golden stones attract large fish in late May and early June. Mayfly and micro-caddis frequently hatch in large numbers during spring and summer evenings. Summer mornings feature a very consistent and thick trico spinner fall, bringing up many good rainbows and browns.
We specialize in flies for the creek, such as veggie buggers, crystal buggers, leaches, stone fly, mosquitoes, and adams.
