Lassen National Volcanic Park...
Manzanita Lake
Lassen National Volcanic Park is located 14 miles south of Rim Rock Ranch. Manzanita Lake, just inside the north entrance of the park, provides some excellent fly fishing for rainbows and trophy browns. These fish get heavy fishing exposure and are well educated to the typical fly offering, which makes "catching" tough at times.
Many hatches occur on this lake. Dry flies, such as callibaetis cripples, mosquito, and adams work well mornings and evenings. Other flies like prince nymphs, leaches, wooly buggers, and damsels are key flies to use.
There are restrictions on this lake, such as no motorized boats, catch & release, barbless hoods, etc. Check the regulations for details.
This is a beautiful lake with Lassen Peak as your backdrop, so bring your camera!
